We can keep doing familiar religious things and still miss the relationship God is inviting us into. In Matthew 9:14–17, Jesus uses the picture of new wine and old wineskins to show that the new life he brings cannot be contained within our old ways of thinking. In this week’s message, Brandon calls the church to turn from self-reliance and grow into the community Christ has already made us. Faith in Jesus, wholehearted worship, and love for one another belong together. As we humble ourselves, return to Scripture, and make prayer our first response, we can learn to depend on the Holy Spirit and follow God together.
