In John 17:1–5, Jesus prays for the Father to be glorified as he completes the work he was given. His prayer shows us a life freely offered in love and invites us to make God’s glory the aim of our own prayers. Eternal life is a gift of knowing the Father and the Son, a real relationship that reaches beyond religious words and routines. As we spend time with God, listening and responding to his Word, he shapes our hearts. Motivated by the cross and dependent on the Holy Spirit, we can serve faithfully, take our next step, and approach God as a loving Father.
