The story of Jesus healing the man at the pool of Bethesda is familiar, but John shows us that the miracle is only a sign pointing to something greater: the miracle worker himself. Jesus is more than someone who fixes our problems; he is someone we can know and have a relationship with. When we stop approaching Jesus simply for what he can give us and start pursuing him for who he is, our faith moves from transactional to transformational. The goal isn't just to experience what Jesus can do, but to experience Jesus himself—and allow him to change us.
