The Book of James | Week Four | James 2:1-13
Favoritism can look harmless—even “normal”—until Scripture exposes it for what it is: sin that turns us into judges and keeps us from living like Jesus. In this week’s message from James 2:1–13, Brandon confronts how we elevate ourselves by outward standards (status, wealth, race, circles) and shows that this mindset ultimately wastes our lives. But the gospel reveals a different kind of value—one that isn’t earned or competed for, but received in Christ—freeing us to love our neighbor without comparison or partiality. As our minds are renewed by truth, we begin to see differently, live differently, and add eternal value to others instead of chasing empty approval. Because Jesus humbled himself to the cross and now reigns victorious, we can stand in his authority, reject the enemy’s lies, and walk in freedom from fear, anxiety, and every stronghold that fights for our minds.
